The Cantinians
The Cantinian mindset dwells inside us all. It’s how we combat them that either sets us free or keeps us stuck. These were the first characters created in the Leaving the Land of Can’t book series. I didn’t know why or what I was doing at the time, but the concept behind the Cantinians was always that they are creatures whose heart’s eye is blinded by the untrue beliefs that consume their doubting minds. The mouth of the heart is zipped closed, while the doubting mind’s mouth is free to speak lies over oneself. It wasn’t until a sleepless night some months later, when I randomly painted Cashew, that the story of A Nudge from a Nut started to form, and the Cantinians became the primary inhabitants of the Land of Can’t.
